The Restaurant Association of Ireland has also recognised our commitment to high standards of food and service and we have been awarded Best Casual Dining 2012 & 2013 in Kerry and in 2013 also won the Best Casual Dining for the whole of Munster.

"Great set up in the old CI church, beautifully restored and bright and cosy.
The menu is excellent with plenty of choice and we couldn't fault any of the many dishes we ordered. Service is prompt and the food was so more-ish that we could have been in and out in about twenty minutes we scoffed it all so quickly. The dessert menu and bar were good enough reasons to stay though and both desserts we had were well worth the €6.50 we paid for each. Savage."

"This was our third visit to Sol y Sombra and we all enjoyed another lovely evening!
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious - we ordered tapas to share and the children enjoyed a chicken meal.
Again, we had a lovely warm welcome from the staff and we look forward to visiting Sol y Sombra next time we are in Ireland! Many thanks!"

“The first time I was ever in this building was about 50 years ago when it was still a church. Now it has been transformed into a beautiful place to eat, drink and relax - and the food and service match the surroundings. On my latest visit I was on my own and a delicious plate of Spanish cold meats with cheese, lovely fresh bread, tasty olive oil for the bread and a crisp fresh glass of manzanilla. Oh yes - I also had a really lovely chicken and almond sauce dish which was just scrumptious. Great place to go - on your own or with a group.”
